Eric Malcolmson is a versatile and entrepreneurial hotel real estate and operations executive and highly respected hospitality advisor with a proven ability in corporate strategy and expansion, investment, development, maximizing operating profits, and enhancing hotel asset values.
Seeing the growing demand for successful restaurant expertise in the hotel industry, Eric Malcolmson has partnered with ICON Legacy Hospitality as its COO and oversees all operations of third-party owned hotel and restaurant assets, asset management, advisory services and real estate investments. Eric Malcolmson has more than 22 years of experience in hospitality development, acquisitions, asset management and operations and leads all aspects of ICON’s involvement with creating hotel and restaurant concepts, operating successful properties and providing turn-key hospitality advisory solutions.
Eric’s passion for creating, operating and developing great hotels and restaurants was fueled by an early start to his career in a number of operations roles at Mövenpick Restaurants and Four Seasons Hotels in Toronto. Having been involved with the acquisition, development and repositioning of numerous full-service hotels and resorts throughout the Americas, Middle East and Asia, Eric has developed a particular specialty in repositioning hotel assets, developing full-service hotels and restaurants from concept through to opening, asset management, branding, and hotel investment/acquisition.
Prior to joining ICON, Eric was formerly Vice President, Development for Fairmont Raffles Hotels International where he was involved in the development and acquisition of hotels throughout the Americas and the Middle East, as well as held a number of corporate finance, hotel advisory and investment sales roles at HLT Advisory Inc., PricewaterhouseCoopers (Real Estate and Corporate Finance & Investment Banking) and Colliers International Hotel Realty.
Eric has led or participated in the successful acquisition and development of over $4 billion of hotel real estate; completed over 200 hotel and mixed-use real estate valuations and feasibility studies; successfully negotiated contracts for 20 luxury hotel and resort properties in the Americas and internationally; completed the financing of over $400 million in hotel senior debt and construction financing; and facilitated the marketing and divesture of over 60 hotel assets.
